Happy Monday, partners! Welcome to your weekly Monday Memo. This week we have compiled a variety of resources including early childhood, suicide prevention, funding and professional development opportunities, and substance use prevention. Before we dive in, here are some reminders and highlights from the RG Team:

RG UPDATES

  • Congratulations to Dr. Andrea Meyer Stinson! We are thrilled to share that our very own Dr. Andrea Meyer Stinson has been appointed by Governor Kemp to serve on the Georgia Composite Medical Board of Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Marriage and Family Therapists! This is an incredible recognition of her expertise and leadership in the field. We are so proud to work alongside Andrea and can’t wait to see the impact she will make in this role. 

  • New RG Resources!

    • Sector-Specific Resource Guides: RG has created ten trauma-informed guides for various sectors! Check them out and please share widely with your networks. 

    • Resilient Georgia Overview Flyer: We have also updated our RG coalition overview flyer. This can be used to share information about our work with your partners and stakeholders at meetings and events. Please download, print, and share widely! 

    • New Brief! Understanding the Opioid Epidemic in Georgia:  Developed in partnership with the CWC Alliance through our youth opioid prevention project, this new resource mhighlights the sharp rise in opioid overdoses and the urgent need for awareness and prevention among Georgia’s youth and communities. Check it out and share widely!

  • September Highlights:

    • Free Your Feels Suicide Prevention Resource Toolkit! September is National Suicide Prevention Month — a time for communities to come together, break stigma, and share resources. Check out the Free Your Feels toolkit for resources on suicide prevention and awareness. 

    • September 15th also kicks off the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. The celebration runs through October 15th and honors the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries as well as the vibrant traditions that continue to shape our communities today. Check out RG’s list of mental health resources for Hispanic/Latinx communities.


Coalition Highlights


Resilient Gwinnett: Join Resilient Gwinnett for the second part of a training series for nonprofit leaders Funding Forward Part 2: Actionable Insights from Nonprofit Leaders. On Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM a panel will share how they’re diversifying revenue, sustaining growth, and innovating on the ground. Representing housing, youth and family services, multicultural outreach, and the arts, these leaders bring a breadth of experience that reflects the realities nonprofits face across sectors. The cost is $20/person and breakfast is included. Please register here


Cobb Collaborative's Lesleigh and Irene, talk with the leadership of Circles Cobb in the latest podcast. You can find the recording here. This was an opportunity for us to talk candidly with two Circles Leaders about their mental health and resiliency journeys. Lesleigh has been guiding the cohort in their "Big View" project which is focused on raising awareness of mental health resources in the low-income community and the prevalence of mental health conditions and has led CRM sessions for the group as well. Resilient Coastal Georgia: The Mediation Center has created a helpful guide titled, Helping Children Feel Safe, for parents and caregivers to navigate difficult conversations about current news and events happening across the world. Check out and share the resource here.  

Early Childhood

Groundbreaking research shows the health and economic benefits of positive childhood experiences | Tufts Hope: The HOPE National Resource Center, in collaboration with other agencies and university, recently published new findings - “Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) and Adult Health and Opportunity Outcomes in 4 US States.” The research found that experiencing any number of PCEs is associated with lower risk of various chronic diseases like diabetes and asthma, lower risk of depression or poor general mental health, and better likelihood of life opportunities and economic savings. CRM + ART: The Center for Interrelational Science and Pediatrics offers a course pairing Community Resiliency model (CRM) with therapeutic art methods to help young learners visualize how their environment and their emotions influence their nervous system. This course is ideal for ages 3-8 years and includes 9 lessons for $150. Access the course here


ALL Aboard: Exploring Adaptive Early Childhood Environments: Presented by GEEARS: The Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students is an annual tour on the importance of adaptive spaces and strategies to support young children with disabilities and their families across a variety of settings. Participants will visit exemplary environments, hear from impactful voices in the field, and build cross-sector connections to strengthen early childhood systems across Georgia. The tour starts September 17th at 7:15 AM through September 18th at 5:00 PM. The bus will depart from Atlanta early on September 17, stay overnight in Augusta and on September 18, continue to Athens, Watkinsville, and Norcross before returning to the GEEARS office that evening. Funding

FY26 Student Mental/Behavioral Health Grant: Georgia’s FY26 state budget established $19.6 million for student mental health services and supports. At its August meeting, the State Board of Education approved state mental health grant funds for school districts based on a state-defined formula of $20,000 to each middle school and high school. This document provides relevant information about the allowable use of funds and reporting requirements for Georgia’s school districts utilizing the state mental health grant funds.

EMDR for AAAI Communities Webinar — Lotus Project: Join the Lotus Project for a virtual webinar on Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and its implementation with Asian American and Asian Immigrant children and families Thursday, September 18, 2025 between 12 - 1:30PM PT. As a result of attending this webinar, participants will be able to 1) Describe at the basic modalities of EMDR 2) Explain why EMDR could be suitable to alleviate negative impacts of distress and trauma among AAAI individuals 3) Summarize at least two culturally responsive adaptations of EMDR for AAAI clients. Culturally Sensitive Trauma-Informed Approach on Suicidal Ideation for Asian Youth: The Public Health Institute and Korean Community Center of the East Bay are offering a virtual training on September 24th from 4:00pm-5:30pm (PT), register here.  


Professional Development and Training

Understanding Loss and Grief in the Adoptive Kinship Network (AKN): GSU Training Collaborative Join Georgia State University for a training - “Understanding Loss and Grief in the Adoptive Kinship Network (AKN).” This workshop equips therapists and counselors with insights into how grief impacts every member of the Adoptive Kinship Network (AKN), from adoptive parents and children to birth families and extended circles. The event is Thursday September 18th from 12 PM-1:30 PM virtually, register here


Free in Georgia | Triple P - Positive Parenting Program | Triple P: Positive Childhood Alliance Georgia is excited to launch the new bilingual Triple P Positive Parenting in Georgia website (English & Spanish)—a one-stop hub for free parenting workshops, self-paced online courses, local provider connections, and easy-to-read articles. This powerful tool supports caregivers of children of all ages with flexible, research-based resources to help families thrive. 


QPR trainings: Resilient Gwinnett partners at GUIDE, Inc are offering virtual QPR Suicide Trainings once a month, starting September 17 from 1-3 PM. The trainings are identical and teach individuals the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide and is taught in a clear, concise format using the latest in educational technology and practices. Staff Well-Being Learning Network Alliance for a Healthier Generation is launching a two-year Staff Well-Being Learning Network on November 5, 2025, bringing together district leaders to strengthen workplace culture and support initiatives that prioritize staff well-being. Substance Abuse

GUIDE, INC Talk It Out Town Hall: The Talk It Out Town Hall is an opportunity for parents to learn how to use the discussion cards provided to talk with their children about substance use, mental health and related issues. Please join us as we lead you through ways to approach these crucial conversations. Everyone who registers for this event will have access to the recording regardless of whether they are able to attend. Tuesday, September 16 in English; Tuesday, September 23 in Spanish.
