Happy Monday, partners! Welcome to your weekly Monday Memo. This week we have compiled a variety of resources for youth and parents, suicide prevention resources for rural communities, and funding and professional development opportunities. Before we dive in, here are some reminders and highlights from the RG Team:
RG UPDATES
Regional Coalition Events Reminder: Thanks to everyone who has continued submitting coalition events! This calendar is housed on the RG website and is a great way to showcase upcoming trainings, summits, and partner activities across the state. As a reminder, please submit your coalition events here. October Peer-to-Peer Network Call: Join us tomorrow October 7th at 2pm for this month’s Peer-to-Peer Network call as we explore “Federal Grant Opportunities: What to Know Before You Dive In.” Guest speaker Teresa Raetz, founder of Transcend Advisory Group, will share insights from her 20+ years of nonprofit and higher education leadership. Teresa partners with organizations to become both grant ready and growth ready, helping them diversify funding, strengthen operations, and align strategies with best practices. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn what it takes to pursue federal grants successfully.
October Lunch and Learn: Mindworks Georgia: HB 268 Policy Brief: Join us this Thursday October 9th at noon with Courtnee King, Research Associate at the Georgia Health Policy Center. Courtnee will provide an overview of Mindworks Georgia and House Bill 268, Georgia’s legislation focused on school safety, school climate, and student wellbeing. This session will offer a clear breakdown of the bill’s key components and how the state is addressing student mental health and school safety following the tragic incident at Apalachee High School last year. As a reminder, we ask that at least one member of your regional coalition leadership attend—and please feel free to invite additional partners. More are always welcome! Coalition Spotlight
Resilient WEST Highlight: Statewide Parent Education and Support Group Meeting: This Tuesday, October 7 at 2 PM is the Statewide Parent Education and Support Group meeting, featuring Judge Michael Key from the Resilient WEST coalition. Judge Key will share insights on “The Impact of Childhood and Adult Trauma on the Workforce,” drawing on his expertise and experience to highlight the importance of resilience and trauma-informed practices. Resilient Gwinnett: Gwinnett Nonprofit Coalition is hosting a monthly virtual briefing series happening this Friday October 10 from 9-10 AM. Advocacy in Action is designed for nonprofit leaders and staff and will deliver timely updates on the public policies, funding shifts, and sector-wide challenges. Funding
Innovative and Upstream Approaches for Injury and Violence Prevention Seed Grants: A new opportunity from Safe States Alliance for innovate injury and violence prevention approaches. There are up to four seed grant awards for $20,000 available for state, local, and territorial health, tribes and tribal organizations, hospitals/health care organizations, academic institutions, city and municipal governments, community-based organizations, businesses, and not-for-profit organizations. Apply by October 15 with details on your innovative injury and violence prevention approach. More information here.
Grant Opportunity: Expanding School-Based Mental Health Services: The U.S. Department of Education is now accepting applications for the 2025 Mental Health Services Professional Demonstration Grant Program, with up to $90 million available to support school-based mental health services. Grants will provide $750,000–$1.25 million (average $1 million) to state and local education agencies to address shortages of credentialed school psychologists in high-need districts. The Department anticipates funding 18–24 projects for up to 48 months. Applications are due October 29, 2025. Apply here!

CompassionCon – An Initiative of Compassionate Atlanta: CompassionCon is an annual festival in Decatur allowing communities to connect with each other and explore how compassion shows up in real life. The festival is October 26 from 1-5 PM, learn more here.
Youth Protection Seminar | Atlanta Area Council: The Youth Protection Seminar is happening October 9 from 8 AM –4 PM. The Seminar features breakout sessions led by Atlanta experts on building stronger and safer communities for Metro-Atlanta children. Tickets are $35 and includes lunch, register here.
Real Help-Real Hope: Opioid Prevention Training From the Opioid Treatment Providers of Georgia is an event addressing opioid misuse in youth in Georgia and development training. The event is on November 9 from 8 AM to 3:30 PM at the Emory Conference Center in Atlanta. Tickets are $129, purchase here.

Rural Suicide Awareness And Prevention — Rural Minds: This is a comprehensive resource from Rural minds educating on rural suicide awareness and prevention. Resource: TMI Georgia App:: The TMI-Georgia app and website are a safe, private space to get real answers about your health, relationships, and future – a sexual education app for teens. The website and app is a resource for finding clinics that are youth-friendly, explore testing and counseling for teen pregnancy, birth control, HIV, and STDs with reliable, confidential answers. Rezilent Kidz Parenting Classes: Join this hybrid parenting class to learn how to raise strong, resilient kids on October 9 from 6:30-8 PM. This is a 13 week program from October to January with online classes and in-person in Stone Mountain. This is free, register here.
