Resilient Coastal Georgia  is hosting a ceremony honoring first responders this Thursday November 13th from 10 AM-12 PM for their participation in the Handle with Care initiative. This comprehensive guide includes child and family behavioral health state and local resources with service descriptions and contact information for the counties. View the RCG guide here. If your coalition is interested in a resource guide, please contact Nikki at nwarner@resilientga.org

  • Child Enrichment recently hosted its quarterly My Loved One & Me event in partnership with The Basics—an afternoon dedicated to creativity, connection, and quality time with little ones. Families celebrated the season with pumpkin painting and playful moments that encouraged slowing down and making memories together. This free community event will return on December 16th at 10:30AM, and all are welcome to join the fun! Sign up here.

Georgia expectant mothers find time is not on their side for prenatal care: This AJC article uncovers the vast disparity in care for Georgia mothers, particularly those in rural areas, with 80 of 159 counties lacking a full-time OB-GYN, and ongoing rural hospital closures forcing many women to travel long distances for prenatal care. Recent data show rising rates of late or inadequate prenatal care, though infant mortality rates have slightly improved. State leaders have expanded Medicaid postpartum coverage to one year, extended TANF benefits to pregnant women, and are exploring ways to use local public health departments to provide prenatal visits. These efforts aim to reduce disparities and ensure safer, more accessible care for mothers and babies across Georgia. Read the full article here
